I have just purchased what is, IMHO, the best alt-rock/alt-pop album of the past five years.

The band is called The Modern Society. They are local boys, but if there is any justice in the music world (a dubious proposition, at best), these guys will end up mega-stars.

Their self-released debut "Friends and Enemies" is truly stunning. I just heard these guys for the first time a couple of days ago. I promptly tracked them down online and downloaded their album from iTunes. I kid you not when I say that there is not a track ont hat album which I have rated less than 4 stars our of 5 on the old ipod.

Take the time! It is well worth it. If these guys don't have A&R guys supergluing themselves to the band members in the next few days, I will pretty much drop dead from surprise.

Their music is fresh, energetic, catchy, well written, well arranged and well performed. Polisherd enough not to sound like a bund of high school kids in a garage. Loose and energetic enough to avoid that generic, over produced sound that has drained all the life out of the alt music scene. These dudes just plain rock!

Go forth and soak in the music!
